Social Networking in Plain English

Social Networking in Plain English

I have just run one of my workshops this last weekend in Perth. I was trying to explain how important it is to do Social Networking.

There are at least 3 Social Networking Sites that I believe as an Internet Marketer you should belong to, of course there are many more but I really don’t have time to be active in any more than these.

Twitter

Facebook

Linkedin

Most of you will have heard of all of those I am sure unless you have been living under a rock. :-)

I believe that when these groups were created they were not setup to be used as Marketing Companies and that is really what they have now become. I have to say that alot of my sales and now my database has grown from both Twitter and Facebook, they are both very powerful.

But what is Social Bookmarking?

I decided to pop this video into here for you to watch, I love the way this guy explains how this all works. There is one thing that too many people forget… there are 2 words in Social Networking… we are used to Networking and often forget the most important word these days and thats the word “Social”. Too many just get out there and sell, sell, sell in both Facebook, Twitter and Linked-In and just forget that one needs to be social as well. To take part in conversations and care…

As it stands right now I have a very high google page rank on one of my Twitter accounts. This has happened because I have been taking part and also I have almost as many followers as I have following. I also tweet so that must be what makes goole happy with what I am doing. I have other twitter accounts with various rankings… also I note that Google has changed and is now listing people’s Twitter accounts in googl, and in some cases my Twitter account is ranked higher than my Website. How amazing.

I use Social Networking to connect Socially with people and I believe to get the most out of Social Networking you should be doing the same.

I guess the other issue is, most don’t want to Tweet and don’t go near it because they believe they will be wasting time, well one needs to try it out and see the results. I have most of my Tweeting on automatic as you will see from earlier posts I believe in using tools to make things as simple as possible. My Twitter Adder software is amazing and worth a look at that’s for sure.

3 Tips to having a great Twitter Account

1. Setup a Twitter account for each Niche

2. Only follow people in your Niche

3, Take part and don’t be a Twitter Snob

Same applies for the other Social Networking groups as well.

    Hi Gail,

All your websites have all been very interesting, they have kept me very informed on how to become an internet marketer. Ever since I went to your seminar that you held in Tauranga in March 2010, I have not stopped thinking about these great tools that you can use to make good honest money. If you don’t remember me just think back in March, I was the one that had to go early and I had my baby in my arms. I have not yet started, but am not giving up. I enjoy all your information you give out.

Thanks for connecting us to this great explaination of social networking, that highlights the value of participating ‘in the conversation’. There is the benefit of meeting some great new people, who may have something of value to offer us, and if we have the opportunity of helping them – well, we all know that warm feeling we get from giving!

that is so true Annette its not always about what we have to offer it’s about what others have to offer as well… all about value adding :-) . Thanks for the comment. Great stuff
