How To Create Facebook Lists

Most people are un-aware that there is now a feature on Facebook that will allow you to create lists of all those you want to follow, so I have added a great video in the post to show you How To Create Facebook Lists.

The great thing about Facebook when they made the changes last year to our personal profiles was that they gave us the ability to put people into lists. We had lists for all sorts of things like countries, friends,, family, school friends, ex-girl friends etc etc :-)   and then Google + came and also allowed us to do the same they also offer us the ability to put people into lists. That makes life easy as we can keep things very neat and tidy. Nothing quite like being organised, then the people we really wanted to hear from or share with were in special groups… very friendly I thought…

Now Facebook has gone one step further we can now setup lists for who we want to get posts from in Facebook… It’s abit like an RSS feed in some ways in that with an RSS feed we subscribe to whatever or where ever the feed comes from and then every time there is a new article we get notified.

Well it’s the same thing with the lists in Facebook. We can go and find the Favorite People, Books, Companies, Movies and we can put them into our own special lists. The other cool thing is if you follow someone and they have a list you like the look of you can also add that list to your list…

I know it sounds all very complicated but it’s not and it will save you time going through piles of Facebook posts to find the things that you are really interested in…

Of course this is both good and bad.

The Good:  If you want people to put you in there list then you are going to have to give great content so that should tidy things up abit and stop the spamy affiliate Fan Pages…

The Bad: If you are one of those spammy pages I mentioned before you may find you don’t get much traffic or interaction, so we are all going to have to lift our game.

I thought this would be really helpful as well Mari Smith had this created on her site and points to a number of the changes to the New Facebook Business Pages. Facebook Business Page Changes

Wow, when Facebook changed the Business Pages people sure did not like it, so I am going to pick out some Facebook Business Pages Changes and show you in the video how you can use them to really make your page stand out from the rest.

I feel the changes are really good now that I have had sometime to play around but I like many others were very annoyed at first.

However I can see that Facebook also would like to clean things up on the Business Pages and with everyone now having to go right to peoples walls hopefully there will be some work done and cleaned up.

So many Facebook Business Pages were just rubbish, no engagement not much of anything but now Facebook has got us or forced us back to do what it was designed to do in the first place, and that is to talk to people, not just blast them with spam … So many Pages setup with Welcome Pages that were sub-standard. So much affiliate spam as well… so I for one am pleased to see a tidy up and those serious about doing business online will come up with great walls that are pleasing and engaging. (how many times did I just use the word “so”)

You can still send people direct to a Welcome Page by just getting the URL of the page so that can still happen, it’s just that no one is now forced to go to that page nor forced to “Like” it before seeing the wall…. so that is also a good thing I think. How many times did you like something and then saw what the offer was and thought… grrrr wish I had not liked them .

I think that the new changes will force people to use Facebooks advertising as well so that the advert can send people to pages especially setup for the advert. Of course you have always been able to do that, but now with no Welcome Page or Pitch Page as the set page we will have to find other ways to get peoples names and emails and likes. So Paid Adverts, will be the way to go and I am sure Facebook will be rubbing their hands in glee at the prospect.

Facebook Buisness Page Changes List:

  • Timeline / Use it to show of your Company/ Product / Business
  • Pined / Pin the things to the top that you want to show off
  • Private Messaging / communicate with private messages with their fans and users
  • Tabs / Only 4 Tabs visable now
  • Top Picture / Cover Image
  • No Default Landing Page / No more Fan gating” pages to garner more organic “likes”
  • Highlight / Feature Content full page style

In the video I show all these in the above list plus I mention the Fanta Business Page if you want to go and take look. It’s fun maybe you can find one of the missing people.

The sizes for the New Pages as discussed in the video

The top picture size is 851 x 315

The Tabs, those small pictures under the timeline cover are 111 x 74

The pages are now 810 pixels wide, so much room there to play around with.


The video is only 9 minutes long and am sure you will learn heaps that will help you if you have a business page. The thing with Social Media is that it never stops changing. I guess that is what happens with things social.

What’s new in Social Media? – New Facebook Timeline for New Zealand

There is actually so many new things I am finding it hard to keep up, one other new thing that has happened in my country New Zealand is the Facebook has rolled out the Timeline here to the whole country. That’s pretty exciting it was decided that we are a big enough small enough country to test out the new Facebook Time line on. Even though I have been using it for sometime lots of people have loved being able to take it up now. Once you learn how to use the new timeline for both business and pleasure you will all be away laughing … as we say here. It’s fantastic, just take your time to learn it and how to use it. Add Facebook Comments to WordPress

How to Add Facebook Comments to WordPress is probably one of the main searches I get into my blog everyday. I already have a post on the subject, only thing is it’s abit complicated for some to do so I thought I would re-do the post using this way, as it is so much easier and I am sure you will be able to follow it much better.

I am not a great fan with wanting to Add Facebook comments to my WordPress blog and the reason is four-fold: ( can you do four-fold?)

1. Some people seem to think they have a right to drop their silly links and comments that have nothing to do with anything and you don’t actually get notified when people do that, unlike WordPress comments which you can set for moderation before they go live. So you can have something there, in your comments for quite a while and not know it. I have had it happen where someone put links in to several different affiliate products they had, I was steaming mad :-) anyway I unfriended them and sent them a note. They have not done it again. So one needs to keep that little issue in mind…

2. There is too much noise, as I call it when you add in Facebook Comments to wordpress. By that I mean, when people look at Facebook comments on your blog they might think… “they have an interesting picture wonder who they are” – and before you know it they are off to that persons profile or fanpage and never to return.. so you need to be aware that adding Facebook comments is a great idea but it does have its issues in taking people off your blog and off somewhere else where you may not be…

 3.  If you use the Facebook comments plugin that I show you in the video you have to add it manually to each post. I like that idea as I don’t always want the comments on every post or page. I want to be selective and when I want to really promote something then I will add the comments, and also if I have a subject that I know is going to get lots of response then I will add it to that as well. So it’s a good idea to pick and choose where you want to add those special Facebook comments.

4. This is something really important to remember, that is the more comments you have the longer your page will take to load, so that’s why a good idea to keep and eye on the loading speed and also a good idea if the comments are long to take it from 8 comments as I show on video to even less than that. So keep and eye on it.

Add Facebook Comments to WordPress the fast way

The way I show you in the video is the fast way to add Facebook comments to WordPress as you do not have to create a complicated app as you do for the WordPress plugins, it’s really quick and easy this way.

As mentioned earlier not many people like to create apps it’s all too hard and scary and some think they might break the system if they try to do it. So if you follow these easy instructions you will have it done in no time. Of course you can use the code in an HTML site as well… and also in your Fanpage after all it’s just HTML code isn’t it.

It’s a great idea to Add Facebook Comments to your WordPress site as it can create really good buzz around your post. Don’t forget if you use the comments well then people will leave a comment and then that comment will show up on the persons news feed and that is a good thing.

If you want  comments on every post then you will need to add the code each time to each post. If you don’t want to do that manually then you will need to use the WordPress Facebook Plugin, that will do it automatically.
