Boxing Day – Sales – Food and more Food (Left overs )

Boxing Day _ What is it?

This morning my grand daughter 5 year old, asked me what is Boxing Day.

Now over the years there have been many things said about what it is from, just being the day you cleaned up all the boxes after christmas presents were unwrapped to two people in a boxing ring trying to sort out who was King !!!

Well I decided to find out, what on earth is it..

Here’s what I found Out…

On investigation I found that only a few places in the world celebrate it. New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England.
Here’s the other thing it has its roots in what is known as St Stephens day (as it is still called sometimes in Britain), when the tradition of the upper classes giving money or goods to the lower classes. Christmas Day was for gift exchanges between peers, but the days afterwards were for giving to the poor. Additionally, churches that had collected items for the poor would distribute the donations on the 26th.

Isn’t that cool, I thought I would love to be able to do a similar thing next year now that I know..

On December 26, or soon afterwards, we could all box up things we don’t need, or haven’t used in a long time. I am not sure about you, but I have so much stuff that I never use that is all good, some presents from days gone by that people have given me as well, we actually have just too much stuff. I actually dont buy much in theway of “Stuff” I hate too much stuff around me I just hate clutter.

So many of us have so much “stuff” and it just sits in drawers and closets… at one point it was all “must have” now it sits. Why not give it new life, and give someone else the things they really need?
So next year lets do something with our “Boxing Day” and give out to someone else.
So Happy Boxing Day, Everybody!
